You Can Help We could use a little help. Our organization depends on your help to continue saving Cocker Kids throughout this area. Our two biggest needs are funds and fosters. FUNDS Funds help us pay our vet bills, plain and simple. Every rescued cocker visits the vet before they can be adopted. We give them all the recommended vaccinations, test them for heart worms, and spay or neuter them. If they need additional medical treatment, we usually provide that too. We do not turn down adoptable dogs with heart worms; we treat them! We do not turn down adoptable dogs with known medical conditions, if we can treat them! This takes money. While we receive some funds through our adoption fee, it does not cover all of our expenses. This year our average cost per dog has been $350. We only ask for a $250 donation when someone adopts a Cocker Kid. Last year we treated over 20 dogs with heart worms, taken care of numerous "cherry eyes", nursed several Cocker Kids through kennel cough, and given another a chance to walk again by treating a leg bound by wire and a rubber band. With your donations, we can help more cocker kids feel better and most importantly, find loving and forever homes! Thanks from the bottom of our cocker hearts! FOSTERS Another primary need is for foster homes. A foster parent cares for a cocker kid until we find a forever home for them. All medical costs are covered by Cocker Rescue. The foster simply provides a home, food, and transportation to the vet and to adoptions. Fostering is a rewarding experience, especially when that special cocker kid finds their special family. If you are interested in fostering or just have questions about the responsibilities or process, please call us. VOLUNTEERS One final need is for volunteers. If you are not in a position to foster, we need help in many areas including fundraising, picking up dogs at shelters and taking them to vets, or transporting dogs from vets to foster homes and sometimes even transporting dogs to forever homes. Maybe you have a special talent that could help us, like taking photos for the website? We can always use the helping hand, please contact us for more information. |
